The Hamilton County Jail is located at 3995 County Road 51 North, Jasper, Florida 32052.
The current Hamilton County Jail was built and opened for operation in 1983 with an inmate population of approximately 20. Currently, the Jail houses a daily average of 95 inmates and processes an average of 1,500 inmates per year. In addition to juvenile offenders who have been adjudicated as adults and those inmates, both male and female, who are held on local arrest charges, the Jail houses inmates who are awaiting court dates for pre-trial hearings, sentencing hearings and violation of probation hearings. It also houses inmates who have been ordered to serve State prison sentences under the State "jail bed program".
We believe that people can change. Our vision as Jail staff is to encourage and motivate inmates to make a positive change in their lives. Toward that end, the Hamilton County Jail provides a GED program so that inmates can obtain their high school equivalency diploma. Also, when allowed by the Court, certain inmates participate in the work release program which allows them to be able to support their families while incarcerated.
The Hamilton County Jail is commanded by Jail Administrator Capt. Don Williams, who is responsible for the daily operations of the Jail. The Jail staff is comprised of one Lieutenant, four Sergeants, twelve Correctional Officers, four Control Room Operators, two full time and one part-time medical personnel, and two cooks who provide twenty-four hour supervision of inmates every day of the year.
At the Hamilton County Jail, we believe in the importance of teamwork and the value of safe and secure jail for staff and inmates.
